TWO MEN AND A TRUCK
The Madison franchise owner of the nationally known company, Two Men and a Truck, came to Shulfer Architects with the desire to design and construct a new office and warehouse facility that could met a variety of needs within a limited space. To begin the design process, Shulfer Architects conducted an assessment of the company’s needs for space organization and work flow. Through collaboration of staff and management, an innovative workspace was tailored to the organization’s needs. The resulting building design is an efficient single-story structure with intersecting volumes of space that connect various departments and inform the users of their environment. Custom interior workstations were developed to provide privacy for the individual, yet allow natural light to penetrate deep into the interior of the building. Located in an industrial neighborhood, the building is situated on the site to provide attractive street front views, while efficiently allowing vehicular circulation and access to the warehouse loading area. A dynamic combination of sloped metal roofs highlights the covered main entryway and allows for natural light to be captured at multiple locations and brought into the heart of the office building. The building’s massing is highlighted by a variation of monotone metal panels with custom designed brackets emphasizing dramatic roof overhangs.
