DANCE EDUCATION CENTER

As the first new retail establishment in a planned multi-building redevelopment located near Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the Dance Education Center has set a high standard of modern design for the surrounding future projects to follow. Creatively contrasting the textures of simple burnished masonry, stucco and metal panels in subdued colors, this contemporary project demonstrates an attractive use of economical building materials at a pleasing human scale. The dynamic arrangement of well-proportioned intersecting forms dramatically calls attention to the covered entry way while reflecting the organization of studio, retail and office spaces within. The interior layout was designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for a secondary entrance and adjoining space with a manager’s office and small specialty retail sales area to include all the necessary amenities under one roof. Working closely with the client, the modern dance studios were tailored to the needs of instructors and students and provide low maintenance spaces with plenty of natural daylight and warm, welcoming colors.
